Hello Skiers and Snowboarders! Our 2025 season is just around the corner. Here is how the new season looks:
There have been a few changes this year.
First, Tamar is “retiring” from running the Friday program, and I, Katie Bretton, will be taking over.
Second, there is a change in the dates due to Powderhorn’s new policies. We will still have 6 weeks total.
The dates for this year are:
January 3, 10, 17, 24
February 14 and 21.
We will meet for lessons from 10am-12pm. Lessons are for students who are 8-18 years of age. There will be no adult lessons offered at this time. Every student participating in this program MUST take a ½ day lesson. If you have never skied or snowboarded before, you must take a full day (4 hour) lesson the first week and a ½ day lesson beginning the second week.
All reservations are done online in advance. Reservations close 3 nights prior to our lesson on Fridays, which means your reservation needs to be made by Tuesday evening in order to ski/snowboard on Friday. There will be NO add-ons. I can cancel your reservation if you cannot make it on Friday, but cannot add you once the reservations are closed on Tuesday. So if you are unsure, register and I can cancel if needed. Payment is due on Friday when you pick up your ticket from me at the homeschool registration table in the lodge. I accept checks made out to me, Katie Bretton, cash or Venmo. Powderhorn asks that you register each participant each week because proper lesson levels and equipment needed can change from week to week.
This year, I will issue each participant an RFID card instead of a lift ticket. Each participant must purchase the RFID card for $5 at the first lesson. Please include this fee for each participant at your first payment. If you still have last year’s card, you can exchange that and not have to pay the $5. This is a one time fee unless you lose or forget your card. It is your responsibility to keep the card for each lesson you wish to participate in. You will bring the card to me each week and I will swap your used RFID card for a new one with the current week’s information loaded on it. This process will repeat each week. If you lose or forget your card, I cannot swap you for a new, loaded card, so you will need to purchase a new card from Powderhorn for $20 in order to participate. The RFID card will get you on the lift, even after your lesson, until closing time. Don’t worry, it will all make sense after the first week.
Unfortunately, I can no longer offer adult tickets to grown siblings or friends. Chaperone lift tickets and rentals are ONLY for parents/guardians of participating students. Powderhorn asks that any person purchasing a chaperone ticket please assist getting students through the rental shop and out to lessons on time.
